MATERIALS FOR WEIGHT AND PERFORMANCE
High-Performance Polymers for Selected Aerospace Uses.
Aerospace components can require low weight, dimensional control, temperature capability, electrical insulation, wear resistance and resistance to fuels, lubricants or cleaning fluids.
Engineering plastics may be evaluated for selected bushings, guides, insulators, spacers, seals, brackets, fixtures and production tooling where their property combination fits the design.
ZERO supplies semi-finished rods and sheets for further machining. Flight use, safety-critical use and regulatory compliance must be approved by the customer using the exact material grade and applicable aerospace standards.
AEROSPACE PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Properties That Require Grade-Level Verification.
Aerospace selection must consider the full load case, environment, service life and required documentation.
Lightweight Performance
Reduce component mass where polymer properties satisfy the structural requirement.
Temperature Capability
Retain required properties across operating, storage and thermal-cycle conditions.
Strength & Stiffness
Support static, dynamic and assembly loads within the validated design envelope.
Creep & Fatigue
Consider long-term deformation and repeated loading throughout the service life.
Fluid & Chemical Resistance
Evaluate fuels, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, cleaners and environmental exposure.
Traceability & Compliance
Confirm grade identity, documentation and required aerospace specifications before use.

AEROSPACE FAQ
Before Selecting an Aerospace Material.
These answers are general. Qualification and approval must use the exact grade, documentation and component requirements.
No. Properties, additives, manufacturing controls, traceability and certifications differ by grade and supplier. Only the exact specified grade and documentation can be evaluated.
They may replace metal in selected designs where the validated polymer grade satisfies structural, thermal, environmental, fire-performance and regulatory requirements. Engineering approval is essential.
Glass- or carbon-fiber reinforced grades may be evaluated when additional stiffness, strength or dimensional performance is needed. Directional properties, fatigue and machining behavior must also be considered.
ZERO can discuss stock shapes for jigs, nests, locators, guides and ground-use tooling. The customer should define the required grade, tolerances, environment and documentation.
Please provide the drawing, component classification, exact material or target specification, load case, service environment, required documentation, stock dimensions, quantity and destination.
